Welcome to Our Circuit
Thank you for visiting our Circuit Website either for the first time, or as a returning visitor.
In the early weeks of the new year, many of our local congregations have been engaged in Covenant Services. The service originated at the time of the Wesleys in the eighteenth century, and was a means of encouraging folk to be serious about their faith. In the annual service we affirm our belief in God's love for us as individuals, and make our response of faithful obedience to that love.
It is good and right to be reminded of that relationship of love with God. That God is for us, is on our side, and we in our lives are called to respond to that love. This service is valued by many within the Methodist Church, as well as being respected by those outside the denomination.
This adapted prayer comes from the Covenant Service, and I offer it to you that you might wish to include it in your prayers at this time:
God our Father, fountain of goodness,
creator of all that is,
you have made us in your own image.
You have given us life and reason,
and love for one another,
setting in our hearts a hunger for you.In darkness you are our light,
in adversity and temptation our strength.
Bring us, with those who have done your will in every age,
into the light of your presence
and the joy of your kingdom.
Blessing and honour and glory and power
be yours for ever and ever. Amen.
